Man kills wife on suspicion of illicit relationship in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich

BAHRAICH: A man allegedly killed his 32-year-old wife and injured his brother on suspicion of illicit relationship at a village here, police said on Friday. The incident took place at Banjaria village under the Kotwali Nanpara police station area on Thursday night after which police arrested the accused.

Rajesh Singh killed his wife Rita by slitting her throat with a sharp-edged weapon.

His younger brother Brijraj, who rushed to stop him, was also injured and sent for a medical treatment to the Nanpara community health centre, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ashok Kumar said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused suspected that his wife had an illicit relationship with his younger brother.

On the complaint of the woman's father, a case has been registered against the accused and he has been arrested.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.

According to their neighbours, Rajesh worked as a labourer in Delhi had returned home during the coronavirus lockdown.
