Man kills childhood friend over Rs 50 in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: A 24-year-old autorickshaw driver was killed after his friend stabbed him on the chest during a fight over Rs 50 on Tuesday.

Police identified the deceased as Shivamadhu KC and the accused as his childhood friend and food-delivery boy, Shantha Kumar, who has gone missing after the murder.

DCP Sanjeev M Patil (west) said the fight started when Kumar reportedly took Rs 50 from Shivamadhu’s pocket. This led to an argument and Kumar whipped out a knife and stabbed Shivamadhu .

Police said Shivamadhu, Kumar and their friends had gone to a cyber centre to get some printouts. Shivamadhu and Kumar went to the centre, while Sharan and Praveen waited for them by the roadside. Kumar asked Shivamadhu to give him some money, but Shivamadhu said he didn’t have any. Kumar then took Rs 50 from Shivamadhu’s pocket, leading to the fight. Sharan and Praveen took Shivamadhu to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
