Man killed while walking on M8 in Glasgow named by police

A man who died after being hit by a car on the M8 has been named by police.

Daniel McFarland was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash on Wednesday, March 4.

The 41-year-old was struck by a Vauxhall Astra while he was walking on the eastbound carriageway near to the slip from the M77 around 7.25pm.

Sergeant Jon Mochan from Glasgow’s Road Policing Unit based at Helen Street said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Daniel at this difficult time.

“Our investigation into the crash is ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who saw this incident to contact us. Whether you saw a man walking along the carriageway or were on the road at the time and have dash-cam footage, you may have information that will assist our investigation.”

Police are asking anyone with information the incident to contact them on 101 and quote reference number 3415 of Wednesday, March 4.
