Man killed in workplace accident at Cork school named locally as dad-of-three Brian McGrath

The man killed after being injured in a workplace accident at a Cork school has been named locally as dad-of-three Brian McGrath.

Mitchelstown man Brian was working at Kildorrery School on Friday, August 16, when he was critically injured in an accident.

Mr McGrath, who was aged in his 40s and a father of three young children, died in hospital on August 22, Cork Beo reports.

He has been described as a popular man who was well-known in the local community and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

A funeral mass took place on Sunday at the Chapel of Rest, Baldwin Street, Mitchelstown followed by burial at Brigown New Cemetery, Mitchelstown.

The Health and Safety Authority is investigating the circumstances of the tragic death.

A spokesperson said: "The HSA inspector went to the scene shortly after the incident on August 16 and the serious accident is currently under investigation by the Authority."
