A 33-year-old man died days after a vehicle crash Thursday night in West Englewood, officials said.

About 10:55 p.m., Ben A. Fowler was driving southbound in the 6000 block of South Ashland Avenue when a 49-year-old man turning left onto 59th Street failed to yield the right of way, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Fowler was found unresponsive at the scene and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

He was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon about 2 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled an accident.

The driver of the other vehicle refused medical attention and was issued citations for failure to yield and driving on a suspended license.

The Chicago police Major Accidents Unit is investigating the crash.
