Man killed in Washington Park shooting: police

A man was fatally shot Monday in Washington Park on the South Side, police said.

He was riding in a vehicle about 3:10 p.m. in the 5800 block of South Wabash Avenue when someone opened fire, striking him in the chest and thigh, Chicago police said.

The 29-year-old was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t commented on the man’s death.

Area One detectives are investigating.
