A man was fatally shot Monday in south suburban University Park.
Authorities responded about 6:47 p.m. to the parking lot of a store in the 500 block of University Parkway, according to University Park police.
Officers found 23-year-old Chikiris Murphy unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He was taken to Franciscan St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, where he was pronounced dead.
According to witnesses, Murphy was standing in the parking lot when a male approached him and fired shots, police said. No arrests have been reported.
