Man killed in South Side shooting

A man was fatally shot Monday in Avalon Park on the South Side, police said.

The 41-year-old was walking about 2:18 p.m. in the 8500 block of South Euclid Avenue when someone opened fire, striking him multiple times, Chicago police said.

The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on the death.

No arrests have been reported. Area Two detectives are investigating.
