A person was shot to death Saturday in South Chicago.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 7:08 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Houston Avenue and found Hakeim Jones, 21, with a gunshot wound to the head, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and pronounced dead just over nine hours later, officials said. A weapon was found at the scene of the shooting.
Jones lived in Burnside, the medical examiner’s office said.
No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
