Man killed in Scots lorry crash as cops seal off road for seven hours

A man has died following a lorry crash in South Ayrshire.

We told how police sealed off part of the A77 near Glenapp Castle, Ballantrae following the smash on Tuesday.

The alarm was raised at around 11.50am.

Officers on Tuesday night confirmed that a 57-year-old man died as a result of the incident.

His next of kin have been made aware.

The lorry was the only vehicle was involved in the crash.

No other injuries have been reported at this stage.

The road was closed for over seven hours to allow officers to carry out an investigation.

At around 7.30pm, the road was reopened to motorists.

Police have not released any further details of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesman told the Record: “A 57-year-old man has died following a crash involving a single vehicle, a lorry, on the A77 near Glenapp Castle, Ballantrae, which was reported around 11.50am on Tuesday, August 24.

“His next of kin has been made aware.

“The road was closed for an investigation at the scene and reopened around 7.30pm.”
