Man killed in New Year's Eve crash involving car and lorry

A 64-year-old man died in a New Year's Eve crash on Anglesey just minutes before midnight.

The crash involved a car and a heavy goods vehicle on the A55 near Caergeiliog.

North Wales Police said it happened on the eastbound carriageway near to junction four at 11.53pm.

They confirmed that the driver of the car, a local man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware.

Sergeant Darren Newby of the roads policing unit, said: "The collision involved a black Vauxhall Mokka car and a heavy goods vehicle. Both vehicles were in the eastbound lane.

"We are looking for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have information on the nature of the driving of the black Vauxhall Mokka involved prior to the collision or who may have dashcam footage."

The road was closed for several hours as police investigated the crash.
