Man killed in Machen crash named as 30-year-old Richard Dyas

A man who was killed after being hit by a car in Machen last week has been named as 30-year-old Richard Dyas.

Mr Dyas, from Cwmbran, was walking along the Machen straight A468 in Caerphilly at around 8.35pm on Friday when the collision involving a black Mercedes AMG C Class took place.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene. The road was partially closed for a time while investigations took place.

A 25-year-old man from the Newport area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation.

Gwent Police confirmed the identity of the victim in a statement on Wednesday. They said: "Following the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Machen straight A468 on Friday evening, November 13, the deceased can now been named as Richard Dyas, age 30 from Cwmbran.

"The collision occurred at approximately 8.35pm and involved a pedestrian and a black Mercedes AMG C Class.

"A 25 year old man from the Newport area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation."
