Man killed in Logan unit fire, south of Brisbane

The blaze gutted the Logan apartment and also caused damage to an adjoining unit.

A man has died in a unit fire that broke out this morning at Waterford West, south of Brisbane, police say.

Firefighters were called to the scene just before 8:00am where they found the building engulfed in flames.

The blaze gutted the Logan apartment and also caused significant structural damage to an adjoining unit.

The fire was quickly contained, but it was too late for one man inside.

Police discovered the body of a man, believed to be a 65-year-old resident.

Investigations are continuing to determine what caused the fire and the area has been declared a crime scene.

There were no other reports of injuries.
