Man killed in light aircraft crash after missing plane found in Kent field

A man has died following a light aircraft crash in Kent.

Police say a plane was found in a field in Tar Pot Lane, Ashford on Friday morning, reports KentLive.

Emergency services attended the scene where sadly a man was pronounced dead.

Enquiries are underway and Kent Police will be liaising with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, a statement said.

It comes after the coastguard confirmed that a helicopter had been dispatched earlier in the day following reports of a missing aircraft.

A full statement from Kent Police said: "Kent Police was called just before 10am on Friday 10 September 2021 following a report of a concern for a missing light aircraft which was subsequently found in a field in Tar Pot Lane, Ashford.

"One man has been declared deceased at the scene by SECAMB.

"Initial enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances and officers will be liaising with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch."
