Man killed in Lawndale shooting: police

A man was shot to death Friday in Lawndale on the Southwest Side, police said.

The 27-year-old was standing on a sidewalk in the 1500 block of South Christiana Avenue about 9:20 p.m. when someone shot him in the head, Chicago police said.

Paramedics took him to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

No witnesses have come forward, police said. The circumstances of the shooting are unknown.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released details about the fatality.
