Man killed in late night hit and run on Glasgow's busy Clydeside Expressway

A man has died following a hit and run on a busy Glasgow road late last night.

The 33-year-old was struck by a vehicle which failed to stop on the Clydeside Expressway at around 10.40pm on Saturday, February 5.

Police raced to the scene after receiving reports that a man was on the eastbound carriageway.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

His family have been made aware of what happened on the road, which runs past landmarks including the Ovo Hydro.

The road was closed while investigations were carried and reopened around 4.50am today.

Cops are now appealing for information following the incident.

Sergeant John Houston said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly lost his life and those directly affected by this incident.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and although we have spoken to a number of motorists, we are appealing to anyone else who may have seen what happened to come forward.

“In particular we are asking the drivers of a black and grey SUV-style vehicles to get in touch.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone that has dash-cam footage which might assist with our investigation.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3745 of Saturday, 5 February, 2022.
