Man killed in late-night crash between Audi and Ford in Tameside

A man has died after a late night crash in Tameside.

The smash happened just after 11pm last night (Sunday) at the junction of Bayley Street and Bridge Street in Stalybridge.

A grey Ford Focus failed to stop at the junction and collided with an Audi A3, police said.

Emergency services were scrambled to the scene but sadly, a man was pronounced dead.

They particularly want to speak to anyone who gave first aid at the scene.

PC Darren White of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the victim's family at this terribly difficult time.

"A full investigation is underway and we encourage anyone who witnessed the incident, especially those who may have provided first aid at scene or anyone with information to please get in touch."

A police cordon remains in place on Bayley Street this morning.

The road has been taped off between High Street and Dale Street.
