A 29-year-old man has been killed in an industrial accident north of Adelaide, workplace safety authorities have confirmed.
The accident occurred at Truro quarry this morning, and police and paramedics are attending the scene.
Police earlier said a man had suffered a head injury at the site off the Sturt Highway, operated by Hallett Resources.
"On arrival, ambulance officers were treating a 29-year-old man from the Barossa region but despite their desperate efforts, he sadly died at the scene," police said in a subsequent statement.
Emergency services were called just after 9:00am and an emergency helicopter arrived at the quarry a short time later.
In a statement, workplace authority SafeWork SA said inspectors are "currently on site to investigate this tragedy".
"SafeWork SA offers condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at this distressing and sad time," the statement read.
The organisation said the fatality is the first confirmed work-related death in South Australia this year.
It said it would not provide further information at this time.
SA Police crime scene investigators are assisting SafeWork SA, and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
