A 79-year-old man was killed in a crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 94 on the South Side.
The crash happened about 10:35 a.m. on northbound I-94 near 71st Street, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
The driver of a Toyota Camry changed lanes while a Jeep was merging on the expressway and struck the Jeep, Illinois State Police said.
The driver of the Jeep, Cleveland S. Castle, crashed and was pronounced dead about an hour after the crash, state police and the medical examiner’s office said.
The Camry then crashed into a semitrailer, state police said.
The driver of the Camry, a 39-year-old Chicago man, was issued a citation for improper lane usage, state police said.
An autopsy released Wednesday ruled Castle died of injuries from the crash. His death was ruled an accident.
