Man killed in horror M62 crash named

A man killed in a horror M62 crash has been named.

Stuart Murphy, 39, was killed when his lorry was involved in a six-vehicle pile up on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway on Tuesday afternoon.

The collision, which involved four lorries, shut the motorway for hours and saw three others injured.

Mr Murphy, from Huddersfield, was sadly pronounced dead.

A 37-year old male remains in hospital with serious injuries, West Yorkshire Police said.

The crash, which happened at about 2.30pm close to Junction 22 for Rishworth Moor, also involved a Ford Fiesta.

A force spokesman said: "Police are continuing to appeal for dash cam footage of the collision, which appears to have occurred after a Ford Fiesta struck barriers and rebounded on to the carriageway, causing vehicles following to brake suddenly.

"Anyone with information which may assist is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101 or via the website www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101LiveChat quoting log 1041 of 16th March."
