A man has been killed in a suspected hit-and-run near GCHQ in Cheltenham, say police.
Emergency services were called shortly before 2am on Thursday after the man's body was seen lying on the A40 Benhall roundabout.
Gloucestershire Police are appealing for information from anyone who was travelling on the road at that time.
The force has not yet released any further information about the identity of the man.
Motorists have been urged to find alternative routes and avoid the area due to road closures while the investigation continues.
"Diversions remain in place in Cheltenham as police investigate what appears to be a fatal hit and run collision," said a spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police.
"The A40 Gloucester Road, Cheltenham, is closed between the Benhall Roundabout and Granley Road whilst investigations continue at the scene."
“Off-road pedestrian access down Gloucester Road is still possible. The closure will remain in place for several hours."
South West Ambulance Service said an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene after being called at 1.56am.
Anyone who saw something relevant or anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote incident 40 of 16 August.
