Man killed in Grand Crossing shooting

A man was shot to death Wednesday in Grand Crossing on the South Side.

Officers responding to calls of a person shot found the 30-year-old with a gunshot wound to his chest about 1:20 a.m. in the 1400 block of East 67th Place, Chicago police said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as being Demarlon Simpkins. He lived in Englewood.

Area One detectives are investigating.
