Man killed in Calumet City shooting

A man was shot dead April 12, 2021, in Calumet City. | Adobe Stock Photo

A 41-year-old man was fatally shot Monday in south suburban Calumet City.

The shooting happened about 9:25 a.m. in the first block of Dawn Lane, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Virgil Anderson was struck multiple times and pronounced dead at 10:17 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

Calumet City police didn’t immediately respond to a request for details.
