A 27-year-old man was killed in a drive-by Saturday in Bronzeville on the South Side.

About 6:40 p.m., the man was inside a vehicle in the 200 block of East 41st. Street when a black SUV following from behind drove up beside him and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police said. The SUV then fled the scene westbound of 41st Street.

He was struck multiple times and rushed to The University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition but later died, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office conducted an autopsy Sunday and said he died of multiple gunshot wounds, ruling his death a homicide. They have not yet identified him.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
