Feb. 07--A man was killed and another was critically hurt Saturday evening in a shooting during a post-funeral gathering inside a home in southwest suburban Bolingbrook, authorities said.
The dead man has been identified as 21-year-old Juantrelle Quarles Jr., said Bolingbrook police Lt. Carter Larry.
Larry said the other victim's condition had stabilized at a local hospital after making it out of surgery. He is expected to survive, according to Larry.
The two men were among several people who gathered at a home in the 100 block of Cypress Drive after attending a funeral in Summit earlier in the day, according to a news release from the Bolingbrook Police Department.
About 7:10 p.m., a fight erupted inside the home that resulted in someone shooting a gun, the release said.
Quarles was pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m., according to the Will County coroner's office.
An autopsy Sunday determined Quarles suffered multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the coroner's office.
No one was in custody as of Sunday, said Larry.
No other details about the shooting were immediately available, police said.
Bolingbrook police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact detectives at 630-226-8620 or Bolingbrook police's Crimes Stoppers at 630-378-4772.
