
A man died after the car he was riding in crashed into a pole Friday in Back of the Yards on the South Side, police said.
A 19-year-old man was driving a black Lexus at a high speed about 6:15 p.m. in the 2100 block of West 43rd Street when he lost control and slammed into a light pole, Chicago police said.
A man, 18, who was riding in the car was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Another passenger, a 23-year-old man, was taken to the same hospital in serious condition. The driver refused medical attention.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on the death.
CPD’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
