Man killed in Ashington house fire named as 39-year-old Graham Green

A man killed in a house fire in Ashington earlier this week has been named by police.

Graham Green, 39, was found inside a home on Milburn Road on June 6 after a blaze ripped through the property.

Emergency services were called out at around 11.40pm and discovered a body inside the ruined upstairs flat .

His family are currently being supported by specially-trained officers. An investigation has been launched by Northumbria Police .

Detective Inspector Joanne Brooks, of the homicide and major enquiry team, said: “We are now carrying out an investigation to help us understand the events leading up to the fire.

“We have family liaison officers in place who are supporting Graham’s family and would ask that their privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time.

“Our investigation is very much ongoing and we would like to hear from anyone who might have information about this incident, or, anyone who saw Graham or knows of his whereabouts in the hours before the fire.”
