Man killed following collision on South Circular Road

A man has been killed following a collision in the South City Centre this morning.

Gardai are investigating after a cyclist was killed following the collision which happened on South Circular Road near St James's Hospital at 8.30am.

The road has been closed off and a forensic examination is now taking place.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Gardai have now appealed to anyone on the road between 8.15am and 8.45am this morning who may have witnessed or have dash cam footage of the incident.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred this morning Friday 1st November 2019 at approximately 8:30am on the South Circular Road at the junction of Bulfin Road.

"The collision involved a lorry and a pedal cyclist. The male cyclist (age currently unknown) was fatally injured.

"His body remains at the scene at this time. The lorry driver was uninjured. The scene is currently preserved for the arrival of the Garda forensic collision investigators to carry out their examination.

"The road is currently closed to traffic and diversions are in place.

"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly any motorists who may have been on the South Circular Road between 8:15am - 9:30am who may have dash cam footage to come forward."
