Man killed by dog on outskirts of Dundee as police launch major investigation

A man has been killed by a dog on the outskirts of Dundee.

The victim - a 55-year-old man - was discovered in the small village of Auchterhouse to the north-west of the city.

Emergency services responded to the incident at about 1.10pm on Wednesday afternoon.

Tragically the man was declared dead at the scene.

A force spokesman confirmed that a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

Locals described seeing a large emergency service presence in the village in the evening.

A police spokesperson said last night: “Officers received report of a man having been attacked by a dog in Kirkton of Auchterhouse around 1.10pm on Wednesday, 22 December, 2021.

“Emergency services attended, however, the 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
