Man killed, another wounded in Marquette Park shooting: police

A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting Thursday in Marquette Park on the Southwest Side, police said.

About 6:20 p.m., they were in the 6600 block of South Washtenaw Avenue when someone opened fire, Chicago police said.

A 40-year-old man was struck in the abdomen and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The other man, 29, was hit in the arm, thigh and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on the death.

No arrests have been reported. Area Central detectives are investigating
