A man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting Friday in Lawndale on the West Side, police said.
They were crossing the street about 6 p.m. in the 700 block of South California Avenue when someone fired shots from a dark-colored car that was westbound on Lexington Street, Chicago police said.
A 34-year-old was struck in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Though he remains unidentified, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said the man died of multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy Saturday ruled his death a homicide.
The other man, 39, was hit in the buttocks and taken to the same hospital in good condition, police said.
The car, possibly a Jeep, continued on Lexington, police said.
Area North detectives are investigating.
