A man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting Tuesday in Gary, Indiana.

Officers were dispatched about 8:30 p.m. for reports of shots fired in the 400 block of Clark Road in Gary, according to a statement from Gary police.

A 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his hip told arriving officers that a second victim might be in a nearby apartment complex, police said. They found the second victim, a 23-year-old man who lived in Gary, dead along the fence line.

The older man was taken to Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus in Gary, police said. His injury did not appear to be life threatening.

A vehicle in the block was also hit by gunfire, police said.

The shooting remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Detective Michael Equiha Bond with the Lake/Gary Metro Homicide Unit at 219-755-3852.
