2 men shot dead in Grand Crossing while returning from gas station: police

Two men were fatally shot Wednesday while walking back from a gas station in Grand Crossing on the South Side.

Quinton Brooks and another man were confronted by a gunman about 10:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of East 69th Place, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The attacker exited a black SUV and opened fire without saying a word, police said.

Brooks, 19, was struck in the head and upper body, and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died, authorities said.

The other man, 23, was shot in the back and was taken to the same hospital was pronounced dead, police said Thursday morning.

Police collected eight shell casings at the scene, and determined the SUV drove off west on 69th Street.

No arrests have been made.
