A man has been killed after falling from a height at a busy Dockland Light Railway station.
Emergency services were called to Lewisham Station in south London just after 8am on Sunday following reports of the fall.
The victim was sadly declared dead at the scene and his death is being treated as unexpected.
Due to the incident, Station Road, near Lewisham Station, has been closed and several bus routes are on detour.
The DLR is also partially closed between Lewisham, Stratford International and Bank.
A police cordon is in place as officers establish the full circumstances, Scotland Yard said in a statement.
A spokesman for the force said: “Police were called at 08:12am on Sunday, June 15 to reports of a male injured after falling from a height in Station Road, SE13.
“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended. The male (no further details at this time) was sadly pronounced dead at the scene on arrival.
“His death is being treated as unexpected. Station Road remains closed and a cordon is in place as officers establish the full circumstances. Next of kin enquiries are ongoing.”
A London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8.09am today (June 15) to reports of a person who had fallen from height at Lewisham DLR Station, in Junction Approach.
“We sent an ambulance crew and an incident response officer to the scene.
“The first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes. Sadly the patient died at the scene.”
