A man has died after being knocked down by an unmarked police car.
The pedestrian was killed in the collision with a large, dark coloured unmarked Cheshire Police BMW on Warrington Road, in Penketh, shortly before 7.30pm on Monday night.
Emergency services were called to the scene but the man was pronounced dead a short time later.
Road closures were put in place between Farnworth Road and Liverpool Road as forensic officers launched an investigation at the scene.

A cordon was erected at a number of junction near the scene of the crash, which happened close to the Sportsmans Arms pub.
On Tuesday morning, as officers continued to work at the scene, a spokesman for Cheshire Police confirmed that the pedestrian had died.
The force added the incident would be referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
They said: "A road in Warrington has reopened following a serious collision.

"The pedestrian - a man - died at the scene.

Pictures taken at the scene show how officers cordoned off the road near the pub and a Co-op store.

A witness told the ECHO: "I was meeting mum and dad in the pub when it happened outside.
