Man kicked in a bathroom door during a domestic disturbance in Shotts

A man kicked in a bathroom door during a domestic disturbance in Shotts.

Alan Napier was reported to the police by a social worker who happened to be in the vicinity.

Napier, 30, admitted threatening or abusive behaviour in Springhill Road on May 15.

He was on bail for another matter at the time.

The case called in his absence at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.

The court heard Napier was looking after two children in the house when his former partner arrived around noon.

He became aggressive towards her, calling her names.

She went to the bathroom and he followed her. He kicked in the door.

Napier left the house but continued shouting, demanding possessions.

A social worker alerted the police and he was arrested at the scene.

Napier, who admitted previous convictions, spent the weekend in the custody.

Defence agent Ian Scott said Napier has a heroin problem and is currently on community payback and drug treatment and testing orders.

Mr Scott added: “He suffers from anxiety and depression, and is susceptible to seizures.”

Sheriff Ray Small deferred sentence until September for progress reports and to consider the imposition of a non-harassment order.

Napier was given bail, but ordered to stay away from Springhill Road.
