Man jumps barefoot from roof to flee garda during 'Breaking Bad-style' raid in Clonee, Dublin

A man jumped barefoot from a porch roof after drug cops raided a suspected grow house in Dublin.

A massive Garda operation took place in the usually-quiet Hazelbury estate of Clonee which included air support, several squad cars as well as plain-clothed detectives.

A resident in the estate told Dublin Live that Thursday night's scenes were like something out of "Breaking Bad".

The neighbour said: “There’s been a very strong smell - I mean a very pungent stink - coming from that house for the past month at least.

“Lots of the neighbours have been complaining about it [to the guards]. You couldn't even have the windows open, it's been that strong lately. Anyway, then out of the blue this evening, the guards swarmed on the house.

"Honestly it's like a war zone here at the minute. I've never seen so many police cars. Even the helicopter was hovering overhead.

"Someone was saying it was just like that opening scene from Breaking Bad when the young guy Jesse jumps out of the window of a house that is being raided.

"I've never seen anything like this happen here before. It's normally very quiet. Tonight not so. It was like something from a Hollywood movie, gardai everywhere."

The resident, who asked not to be named, described how one of the occupants of the rented home climbed out of an upstairs window onto a porch and jumped at least 12 feet while barefoot in a bid to escape arrest.

A female member of the force chased the man on foot with the Garda helicopter keeping tabs on the suspect. In the past few minutes an ESB van arrived at the rented suburban house, with neighbours telling Dublin Live that they believed power to the home was about to be cut.

Dublin Live has contacted An Garda Siochana for a statement on the issue and we will update you as soon as we learn more.
