A man who was filmed encouraging an assault on a 15-year-old boy in Port Augusta will serve two months in jail after being found guilty of assault.
The incident was filmed and posted to social media, and went viral.
The vision showed the boy being approached by two people, the 46-year-old man and his 15-year-old son, before being thrown to the ground and punched several times by the son.
"Get him on his knees," one of the people can be heard saying, before the victim is punched and threatened with the words: "I'll f***ing cave your f***ing head in."
Magistrate Rodney Oates described the incident as "very serious and confronting".
The man was sentenced to a full term of five months and 12 days, and will serve two months in jail.
The victim's mother — who cannot be named — said she would never forgive the man for what he did.
"Yes, I did expect him to get jail time today," she said.
"I will never forgive him, never forgive him — no way."
She said her son was receiving counselling.
"I can now look forward to my son to get him on the right track to now start being safe back out in the community again."
At the time police said the victim did not sustain any injuries.
The footage was shared on a Welcome to Country Facebook page, which said the vision was initially uploaded to social media by the victim's aunt.
Port Augusta Mayor Sam Johnson said while he did not know those involved or the circumstances, he described the incident as "outrageous" and "disgusting".
