A man has been jailed after sexually exploiting a schoolgirl he had plied with alcohol and cigarettes.
Robert Gaskell struck up a relationship with the teenage girl in May 2018, a court heard.
The 29-year-old, from Ashton-under-Lyne, knew the girl was of school age when he sexually exploited her.
He offered her drugs and bought her alcohol and cigarettes.
Gaskell also isolated his victim from her family and friends, despite her young age.
He was arrested after his victim bravely came forward to the police.
Gaskell, of Whiteacre Road, Ashton, pleaded guilty to Child Sexual Exploitation offences, including engaging in sexual activity with a child under 16.
He was sentenced to four years in prison at Minshull Street Crown Court yesterday (April 15).
He was also made subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will have to sign the sex offender's register.
A five-year restraining order was put in place preventing Gaskell from contacting his victim.
Detective Constable Masheter of the Phoenix Tameside CSE Team said: "Child Sexual Exploitation takes place in many forms.
"In this case the defendant commenced a sexual relationship with the victim, knowing full well that she was a school child."
"I would like to thank the victim for having the courage to report these matters to police and hope this result has provided her with some justice when coming to terms with what she has experienced because of the defendant’s actions.
"GMP will always pursue those who think it's acceptable to pursue minors for their own sexual gain."
