Man murdered girlfriend in 'frenzy' then left her bleeding to death to go out for a walk

An abusive and jealous man who murdered his girlfriend by stabbing her repeatedly in the neck and left her bleeding out while he went for a walk has been jailed.

Amadeusz Sekula, 21, originally from Poland, knifed defenceless Klaudia Soltys in the neck several times during a "savage, ferocious and frenzied" attack at their home in Hull.

Sekula, of Newland, launched the horrific assault after becoming jealous of his partner's online gaming friendships, Hull Live reports.

Hull Crown Court heard how Sekula had been monitoring Ms Soltys' online activity and eavesdropping on her conversations in the lead up to the vicious slaying.

In the moments after the killing, Sekula left his victim bleeding out on the floor as he went for a stroll.

His wander came to an end when he knocked on the door of a woman in nearby Bransholme, who called the police.

The judge ordered that he will spend at least 16 years and 277 days behind bars before he's eligible for parole.

He pleaded guilty to the offence after already earlier admitting the lesser charge of manslaughter.

A psychiatric report had previously been ordered on him because of mental health matters.

Sekula had, at an earlier hearing, changed his plea to the murder charge on the day of a scheduled trial at Hull Crown Court.

Miss Soltys, 30, shared the flat with him at the time. She had been found with fatal injuries inside the property just before 6am after 999 were alerted.

Sekula, of Lambert Street, Hull, appeared in the secure dock and was wearing a grey long-sleeved top.

He looked upset and bowed his head and sighed as he was led out of the dock to begin his life sentence.

The parents of Klaudia Soltys joined the sentencing hearing remotely via a video link and not in person.

Defence barrister Peter Moulson QC said that Sekula, a Polish national, pleaded guilty at the first reasonable opportunity and deeply regretted his actions. He had no previous convictions.

Sekula had been taking English lessons while in custody and his English had markedly improved in recent months.

Judge John Thackray QC told Sekula that the knife attack was "savage, ferocious and frenzied" and left six deep wounds to the neck.
