Man jailed for life after fatal stabbing in Enfield

Jailed: Kozma Papa - (Met Police)

A 22-year-old killer has been jailed for life after fatally stabbing a 37-year-old in a broad daylight fight in north London.

The victim, Bledi Petraj from Westcliff-on-Sea in Essex, was knifed by Kozma Papa in Enfield’s Queen Elizabeth Drive on February 4.

Petraj was rushed to hospital while Papa fled the scene but he later died of his wounds in hospital.

Papa was arrested by Met officers in a car that was stopped in Hertfordshire that same day. He was charged the following day with murder.

Papa, of Fairview Road, Cheltenham, was sentenced to life at the Old Bailey on Friday, to service a minimum term of 20 years. He had confessed to the murder at an earlier hearing.

He was also jailed for nine months, to run concurrently, after admitting possession of a bladed article.

Met Detective Sergeant Matthew Goode said: “My thoughts are with Bledi’s family and loved ones who continue to mourn his tragic death.

“This was a fight that ended in a senseless loss of life and Papa will now rightly spend a significant amount of time in prison.”
