Man jailed for imprisoning woman in 'terrifying' six-day ordeal

The court heard Steven Guy had a psychotic disorder exacerbated by his drug use.

A man who held a woman prisoner and repeatedly beat her for almost a week at a house in Melbourne's outer-east has been sentenced to two years in jail.

The Victorian County Court heard Steven Guy, 37, had been using the drug ice with the woman before he confined her to a room using scissors and knives in Lilydale in February 2016.

He hit, punched, kicked and poured urine on her during the six-day ordeal, leaving her covered in cuts and bruises.

She eventually managed to escape when Guy went to have a shower.

Guy pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and intentionally causing injury after putting the woman through what Judge Barbara Cotterell described as a "terrifying ordeal".

The court heard Guy had a psychotic disorder exacerbated by his drug use, but had expressed remorse and accepted the woman was traumatised by his behaviour.

After surgery for a broken eye socket in the past, Guy held the delusional belief police had inserted a camera behind his eyes.

Judge Cotterell sentenced Guy to two years in jail, but he will only spend a further three months in prison because of the time he has already spent in custody.

He will then be released on a three-year community corrections order.
