Man jailed for historic abuse of two children at house in Glasgow

A man who sexually abused two young children almost 40 years ago was today (Tuesday) jailed for 18 months.

Ian Judge, 55, from Grangemouth, was convicted of abusing a boy and a girl at a house in Glasgow between September 1979 and September 1984.

Judge, who sat beside the dock in a wheelchair, was told by Judge Sean Murphy QC: “You have been convicted of two very serious offences committed which began when the complainers were aged four and six.

"At the time the abuse began you were 15, but were 20 by the time it ended. It is impossible that you could not have been aware of the harm you were doing.”

Judge Murphy told Judge that if he had been sentencing him nearer to the time the offences took place he would have jailed him for four years.

Judge Murphy added: “One of your victims still has issues to this day.”

The High Court in Glasgow was told that Judge poses a moderate risk of re-offending.

As he was wheeled from the dock to begin his sentence one of his victims shouted at him: “F***ing scumbag.”

Judge was placed on the sex offenders' register for five years.
