A man has been jailed for 18 months after being caught using secret cameras to film up women’s skirts in shops and to record his colleagues using the toilets.
Roger Marsh from Halifax, West Yorkshire, was caught after a man who was shopping with his wife noticed March in a “strange position” and saw a flash coming from a camera strapped to his shoe using Velcro.
The extent of Marsh’s crimes were only discovered following the incident which occurred at the Birstall branch of Ikea.
West Yorkshire Police raided Marsh’s home and found over 1,000 computer files with recordings from the hidden cameras, including footage from a camera in the women’s bathroom of the company he had worked at for 35 years.
Police also discovered Marsh, 65, had downloaded 9,547 indecent images and videos of children aged between 10 and 16.
Marsh had been using cameras to spy on shoppers for a decade, and had recorded his colleagues for an 18-month period.
He had been using the recordings for sexual gratification, Leeds Crown Court heard.
Marsh was sentenced to a year and a half in prison after previously admitting to three charges of voyeurism by recording a private act, outraging public decency and two charges of making indecent images.
Imran Ali, Marsh’s solicitor, said the publicity surrounding the case had cost Marsh his job, his friends and his family.
Marsh must now sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
