- Darren Davies, 55, has been sentenced to four years and four months in prison for blowing up his childhood home in Hambleton, Lancashire .
- Davies caused the explosion on 27 March 2024 due to his mistaken belief that he had been cut out of his parents' will, despite the couple leaving equal shares in the bungalow to him and his brother, Craig.
- Davies used three gas cylinders, petrol, and a lit candle to ignite the property, telling a passerby after the blast: “If I can't have it, no one can.”
- His brother lost all his possessions, including sentimental items and family photographs, in the fire and is seeking over £170,000 in compensation.
- The court heard Davies has a history of mental health issues and was suffering from an “autism crisis” at the time of the incident, and he has since apologised for his actions.
