Man jailed after victim needed surgery following attack with metal bar

A man has been jailed after he repeatedly struck his victim with a metal bar.

Gedion Obhiambo, of no fixed address,  appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday (July 23).

He was jailed for four years and four months having pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent.

The victim suffered two broken arms, a broken foot and needed surgery after he was attacked by the 22-year-old at a property on London Road on the night of June 15.

He was in his room when Obhiambo, of no fixed address, kicked his door in before repeatedly striking him with the bar.

Detective Constable Helen Pannell said: "This was a vicious attack which left the victim with two broken arms, one which was shattered, and a broken foot after he was struck several times with the bar.

"We will not tolerate violent crime in our communities and I’m pleased that Obhiambo has now been taken off our streets."
