A burglar who forced his way into a pensioner's home before tying him up, threatening him with a knife and stealing his bank cards has been jailed for more than nine years.
Jamie Morris, 31, of Herriot Grove, Bircotes, repeatedly targeted the 71-year-old victim over a four-month period, committing a series of offences including robbery, burglary and harassment.
On September 15 last year, Morris knocked on the door of the victim's home, in Harworth, before forcing his way in.
He held a knife to the man's face, demanding money, tied him up and put tape over his mouth.
After stealing the man's bank cards and demanding his PIN numbers, Morris left the victim tied up for 20 minutes before returning and freeing him.
Morris was jailed for nine years and eight months at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, May 8.
He pleaded guilty to one count of robbery, one count of burglary, two counts of theft, one count of possessing an offensive weapon and nine counts of breaching a restraining order.
Speaking after his sentencing, PS Kate Long, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Morris put the victim through a horrific ordeal having taken advantage of his kindness and vulnerabilities.
"He had already been convicted for similar offences against the same victim and had an indefinite restraining order upon his release from prison in March 2018.
"This did not deter him and within two weeks of being released from prison he started to target his victim again.
"He showed absolutely no remorse throughout our investigation.
"I'm very pleased we've been able to take this very dangerous man off the streets and I hope his lengthy prison sentence brings some comfort to the victim who has shown immense bravery throughout."
