Man jailed after trying to spit at police officers in Cardiff

A man has been jailed for assaulting emergency service workers after he attempted to spit at police officers in Cardiff.

Grzegorz Klopotek was arrested in the Cathays area of the city after police responded to calls that a drunk man was harassing members of the public.

When the officers arrived, the 42-year-old, of Claude Road, Roath, threatened and attempted to spit at them.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said he received a 12-week prison sentence for assault on emergency workers.

In relation to a separate incident, he was also given a four-month jail term for carrying an offensive weapon.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Cardiff Magistrates' Court.
