Man jailed after selling drugs to pay off £1.2k of debt with his dealer

Dealing drugs on the street cost a man 28 months in prison.

Daryl Wilson started using drugs after relationship troubles, Bristol Crown Court heard on May 6, 2020.

But he racked up a debt of between £1,200 and £1,500 with his dealer and agreed to work it off by supplying.

But he was spotted in Bristol in what appeared to be a drug transaction and was arrested.

Wilson, 28 and of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to possessing diamorphine and crack cocaine with intent to supply on April 8. Judge William Hart jailed him for 28 months.

Neil Treharne, prosecuting, said police's attention were drawn to a car and a drug search was executed.

Wilson was found to have quantities of Class A drugs heroin and crack cocaine.

Emily Evans, defending, said her client's life had "spiralled out of control" in the period leading up to the offences.

She described how he went through a rough patch, had difficulties with relationships and started to take drugs before ending up with a considerable drug debt.

Miss Evans told the court her client had no previous drug-related convictions.

She said he had previously worked in construction and for a marquees business and had the chance of work on his release.
