Man jailed after attacking A&E nurse at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport

An A&E nurse was attacked by a man at a busy city hospital during the coronavirus pandemic.

Craig Sheen admitted assaulting Sue Jefferies at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport on Thursday, May 7.

The 34-year-old from Newport also assaulted Gamel Abdulla at the hospital on the same day.

Then the following day, Sheen then caused £45.32 worth of damage inside a cell at Newport Central police station.

Sheen, of Chepstow Road, Newport, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Saturday, May 9.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating, and one of criminal damage.

He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison and was ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
